What it is

A male hair transplant is a surgical hair-restoration procedure in which suitable follicles are moved from a donor area—commonly the back or sides of the scalp—to areas affected by thinning or baldness.

The procedure does not create unlimited new hair. The available donor supply, pattern of hair loss and long-term progression all influence how much coverage and density can realistically be planned.

02

What can a male hair transplant address?

Male pattern hair loss can affect the frontal hairline, temples, mid-scalp and crown in different combinations. Transplant planning is shaped around the areas that matter most and the donor hair available.

More extensive loss requires careful prioritisation because donor follicles are finite.

Strategic restoration of thinning temple corners to support a more balanced frontal frame.

Suitable crown loss can be restored while respecting the natural swirl pattern and available donor supply.

Transplantation may be considered for suitable men with androgenetic pattern hair loss after proper assessment.

Selected areas of reduced density may be addressed when donor capacity and existing hair allow appropriate planning.

Future loss around transplanted hair should be considered when designing a long-term restoration strategy.

WHO IT’S NOT FOR

Some situations may require transplantation to be delayed or another hair-loss strategy to be considered first.

Insufficient donor density or widespread thinning affecting the proposed donor area

Sudden or actively progressing unexplained hair loss that has not yet been properly diagnosed

Active scalp infection or uncontrolled inflammatory scalp disease

Certain medical conditions or medications that may affect surgical suitability or healing

Expectations that exceed available donor capacity, such as attempting very high density across extensive baldness

This list isn’t exhaustive. Your clinician will review your hair loss, scalp, donor area, medical history and expectations before recommending transplantation.

What to expect

Hair & donor assessment

Your hair-loss pattern, scalp condition, donor density and available follicular supply are evaluated before surgery is planned.

Hairline & graft planning

Hairline position, priority areas and graft distribution are mapped according to facial proportions, existing hair and donor capacity.

Procedure & recovery

Suitable donor follicles are harvested and placed into planned recipient areas. Early shedding can occur after transplantation, with new growth developing gradually over subsequent months.

Physician note

Eczema is more than simply “dry skin.” Different types of eczema can look similar, and fungal infections, allergies and other rashes may sometimes be mistaken for eczema.

At Averah, we first assess the rash pattern, symptoms and possible triggers before creating a treatment plan.

Questions

Suitability depends on the type and stability of hair loss, donor density, scalp health, medical history and realistic expectations.

Hair follicles are generally harvested from suitable donor areas at the back and sides of the scalp.

Hair taken appropriately from a stable donor area is selected because these follicles tend to retain their characteristics after transplantation, although surrounding non-transplanted hair can continue to thin.

For suitable candidates, follicles can be transplanted into the frontal hairline and temple areas according to donor availability and long-term design.

Selected crown thinning can be transplanted, but the size of the area and available donor supply influence how much density can reasonably be created.

There is no universal graft number. It depends on the size of the recipient area, existing density, hair characteristics and donor capacity.

Hair transplant results develop gradually. Early shedding is common, and visible new growth typically appears over the months following surgery.

This depends on the harvesting approach and surgical plan. FUE can involve full, partial or selected donor-area shaving depending on the technique.

The appropriate technique depends on donor characteristics, hairstyle preferences, graft requirements and individual surgical planning

PERSONALISED HAIR RESTORATION

Good hairlines are designed for the long term.

A transplant should complement your facial proportions today without ignoring how your natural hair may change in the future.

At Averah, planning begins with the donor area—not simply the bald area. Because donor follicles are limited, coverage, density and hairline placement need to be considered together.

This long-term approach helps create a restoration plan that uses available follicles responsibly while maintaining realistic expectations.
